Welcoming Günther Braschler to REM

We recently had the pleasure of welcoming Günther Braschler from OTT, one of the world’s leading premium edgebander manufacturers and REM’s top-tier edgebander supplier. During his visit to South Africa, Günther visited both the REM showroom and several of our valued customers to experience the local woodworking industry firsthand.

During his visit, Günther shared valuable industry knowledge and presented the new OTT BluEdge featuring HyFuse zero glue line technology, showcasing the latest advancements in premium edge processing and seamless edgebanding technology. The training gave our team a deeper understanding of the innovative system, including its advanced edge processing capabilities, improved finish quality, and efficient production workflow.

The OTT BluEdge featuring HyFuse system is a next-generation zero glue line technology designed to create an almost invisible joint between the panel and edging material. Unlike conventional edgebanding systems that apply PUR or EVA glue directly onto the panel, BluEdge uses specially developed edging with a functional layer that is activated using heat. The result is an exceptionally clean, seamless finish that gives furniture and cabinetry a premium, high-end appearance.

One of the standout features of the BluEdge system is the patented HyFuse process. The system uses a controlled hydrogen and oxygen flame to precisely activate the functional layer on the edging material. This creates the characteristic blue flame that inspired the BluEdge name while delivering highly efficient edge activation with reduced heating times, lower adhesive-related maintenance, and excellent production efficiency.

BluEdge also gives manufacturers the flexibility to combine traditional PUR bonding with modern zero glue line technology, allowing them to achieve both exceptional visual quality and practical production versatility. Compatible with OTT edgebanders and capable of processing edge thicknesses from 0.6 mm to 2 mm at speeds of up to 20 m/min, the system represents a major advancement in premium edge processing solutions for modern woodworking manufacturers.

We would like to thank Günther for taking the time to visit REM and support our customers through practical demonstrations and technical training. Opportunities like these strengthen industry partnerships and ensure that our customers continue to benefit from the latest global woodworking technologies.

We look forward to future collaborations and continued innovation together.
